Let's Go Somewhere-6/10/2104

Aleathia says:

Several years ago I heard about the Tulip Festival in Albany, NY and decided to take my daughter up there to see what it was all about.  Every year on Mother's Day weekend Washington Park is alive with over 150 different kinds of tulips with nearly 200,000 scattered through the park.

In addition to beautiful flowers, they also have the paths of the park lined with vendors of all kinds.  You can find hand made goods from jewelry to woodwork.  There are food trucks everywhere and concerts in the parks center.

There are lots of great activities for children as well.  There are pony rides, bouncy houses and several playground areas.  It is really a great days worth of fun.  There is a hotel a few miles down the road and we took the bus from in front of the hotel to the park to save fighting traffic.  Inside the park there are several beautiful monuments like this one:

The area surrounding the park and lake is called this Historic District and is home to many styles of architecture from all over the world.  This area has been named one of the 100 most important areas by the American Association of Architects.  It is a wonderful time and so many pieces of visual candy to behold.  If you are ever in the Albany, NY area you should stop by and enjoy it.
