Foodies-5/15/2014 The Cellar

Aleathia says:

In our sleepy little town of Corning, NY on the picturesque Market Street there lies a gem of a fine dining establishment called The Cellar.  This started out as a tapas bar that served an ungodly amount of choices of wine by the glass or bottle as well as a full service bar.  It came up in the height of the martini craze but has turned into so much more.

The Cellar serves a modern fusion menu, but more importantly it is food conscious in several ways.  Chef Michael Lanahan puts together delicious creations that are elegant in their taste profiles as well as presentation.  He makes food that is vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free.  There are scrumptious meat dishes available and well as ones full of yummy gluten that I can no longer eat.

The Cellar is dedicated to using local produce, dairy, and meats.  They do regular business with Crystal City Olive Oil, Remembrance Farm, Blue Heron Acres, Evans Farmhouse Creamery, Finger Lakes Organics, Lively Run Goat Dairy, Champlain Valley Milling, The Good Life Farm, and Thunder Mountain Foods. They also use local coffee roasters Heavenly Cup.  They are the epitome of keeping it local and supporting our own economy.  Chef Lanahan even teaches cooking classes at the local art studio, 171 Cedar Arts Center.

The Cellar has been awarded the Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator in 2012 and 2013.  The restaurant gives a beautiful selection of wines from around the world with special emphasis on the local wine region in the Finger Lakes.

So if you are interested in a nice glass of vino and some tapas

or a full-fledged gourmet dining experience

Then you should head on down to The Cellar at 21 W. Market Street, Corning, NY.  You won't be disappointed in the quality and the atmosphere which is always warm and inviting.  Enjoy!
